Range Control is a
fundamental approach to how we train with firearms. We incorporate the basics
with an outcome based training format. We build confidence from the ground up.
I recently medically
retired from the Army after 14 years. During my time I was a Sniper, Sniper
Instructor and a Drill Sergeant. My time in the military has given me a very
fundamental approach to training.
Once I had separated and
started visiting my local ranges, I noticed two major problems: The individuals
were being instructed on what to do, but not why. The other problem that I
noticed was a major lack of the emphasis of the four basic marksmanship
fundamentals.
As I was seeing this
problem, I began to ask myself why everyone is ok with mediocre training. Why
would someone deliver a product that no one understands?
I sat down with the
intent of fixing these issues. The first problem that I ran across is the
availability of “training videos” on the internet. The problem here was once
again, no why or how to apply outside of the range.
I got together with some
military buddies and we developed training courses structured around the
basics, with advanced application, later that year we founded Range Control
Training.
As part of our
fundamental and practical application of our training, we deliver to the
individual, the ability to apply military marksmanship to your everyday life.
Our training can be
applied to big game hunting, home defense, understanding of your surroundings,
and how to positively impact your communities’.
Our training covers:
Basic marksmanship fundamentals, pistol and rifle. Advanced marksmanship
fundamental, pistol and rifle. Target identification and application as a big
game hunter. Home defense and use of force. Range cards and how they can
improve your first round impact on your next hunt.
The key to success is
built around our Ethos. Integrity, confidence and human spirit. These values
are interchangeable within our model; however, you cannot have one without the
other.
Integrity has a long standing place value within any
business model or ethos. Integrity is the ability to, taking this straight out
of the army values, do the right thing, even when no one is looking. What does
that mean? That you must have the moral courage to set the standard for
everyone to follow.
Confidence is the key to
success. We ensure that the individual can see how confidence in their ability
can change the outcome of any situation. More than self-preservation,
confidence leads to other people looking
to you for help in any situation.
The indomitable human
spirit is the last point in our ethos. Why is it important to understand the
human spirit? The human spirit is what has driven this country to success. It’s
that ability to keep pushing even when the odds are stacked against you. The
human spirit has ensured the survival of our way of life.
We will be publishing a
series of articles that will facilitate our training methods. These short
articles will cover some of the training that we offer. Be sure to like us on
